We love what we do. That doesn’t mean we don’t have exhausting days or challenges, but spending time with these horses makes everything worth it. This year, we have the pleasure of adding several new horses to the horseOlogy program. Between the New York and Kentucky sales, we find ourselves in the company of several incredible yearlings. This year, for Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude for this cornucopia of young horses.

Welcome Our New horseOlogy Class

Our new horses are ready and excited to get to work with horseOlogy. For those who don’t know, these yearlings usually don’t have their names yet and won’t until they are bought at the sales in 2024. For now, the convention is to refer to each horse by the name of their mother, or Dam, and the year they were born. That means some horses have names that don’t quite fit them, including our young colt Tenacious Tina 22.

Our new class includes:

  • First Charmer 22
  • First Hunter 22
  • Greek Sister 22
  • Maisie 22
  • Nicole H 22
  • Picardia 22
  • Strategic Dreams 22
  • Stone Factor 22
  • Tenacious Tina 22
  • Term Paper 22

Gratitude for Our Work

Not everyone gets to wake up every day to do a job like this. We proudly claim the “Horse Girl” labels and want other young girls and women to know that a career in thoroughbred racing or other equine disciplines is possible. We are grateful for the opportunities that have come our way and for developing this incredible partnership.

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, so never forget to say thank you to the people around you for the small things that can change the course of your day or even your life.

We are grateful for the horseOlogy family. We couldn’t do any of this without you.

Our Vision
“To transition and care for retiring thoroughbreds or other equine and prepare for their next careers whether it be companion, riding or therapeutic service and offer an educational opportunity to the community.”

Available for Rehoming

The vast majority of rehoming opportunities come from off the track thoroughbreds (OTTB’s) and we take it upon ourselves to make sure that there are open doors and soft landings for each and every one of them that come to us at the end of their racing career.

horseOlogy Encore Adoption Form

What does a second career mean for our equine friends? Whether it is a thoroughbred that’s done with its race career, a show horse that needs an easier job, or a broodmare that gets to retire from her kiddos, we like to think there is a second career for most and aim to create a soft landing for others.

Our Resident Oldies

Not all horses are suited for a second career, and it is most important to understand the difference. You will notice many farms throughout Lexington and Ocala have a field they deem “the retired field” and these typically home retired broodmares, track ponies and others that may have been retired and not able to be rehomed due to injury or temperament.
