Sales Preparation
We have all seen the pictures of the young horses in the sales ring with sleek, shiny coat and physique that looks like they could be in the winners’ circle tomorrow, right?
Well, how do we get one there?
At horseOlogy, we focus on the tiniest details that can set our horses apart in the sales ring. Whether it is a weanling, yearling, two-year-old, or broodmare heading to a sale, we want them looking their best, and we want to help you get the most out of the experience.
The Ologist Formula
Sales Preparation Services at horseOlogy
A broodmare heading to a sale can be fairly straightforward, but the mamas still deserve to look like a million bucks. If a mare is in foal, there will need to be proper paperwork on file with the consignor and sales company. With a broodmare, the “look” is a little different than a young horse, but we can make sure that she ships into your consignor of choice looking her best.
For most young horses, preparing for a sale requires a period of fitness training to gain proper muscle mass. The majority of a weanling and yearling thoroughbred’s life is usually spent in a herd setting with their other young buddies learning to be horses and focusing on growing.
To ensure that we can have them looking the best for a sale, we slowly transition them into a barn setting for the 90 days preceding the sale so we can focus on the individual. Once a young horse is comfortable coming in and out of the stall daily, we can begin to introduce more.
The process may look different for every horse based on their experience. During our sales preparation time, we will groom daily, bathe, hand walk, swim, and exercise on the eurociser or in the round pen. As with any horse under our care, we will work closely with our veterinarians, farrier, and nutritionists to grow and build a well-balanced horse walking into the sales ring.
We work with different consignors across the sale scene and stay in contact with them so that all are easily prepared before shipping to the sale.

Why horseOlogy?
As Jena and Katie have been involved in multiple parts of the industry throughout their careers, they have noticed the hassle that it may be for owners to have to organize multiple farms and/or advisors for each of their horses. If one is looking to breed a mare, has a yearling to sell, has a yearling to break for the racetrack, and has a couple of racehorses, they could possibly be looking at four different training barns for these horses. Jena and Katie feel that this could be a simplified process that benefits both the horses and the owner and with their diverse background, they are able to accommodate all of the above.

We offer a variety of services for you and your thoroughbred. Whether you are interested in preparing your young horse for a successful career at the track, pinhooking your homebred, or shopping for any of the above, we are here to help.
