Horses have long been associated with the winter holidays. The season conjures up images of horse-drawn sleigh rides and bells on bobtails. While we’re in sunny Florida, we still take this break to spend the holidays with our loved ones. We want to wish you a very happy holiday season.
Winter in Ocala
Did you know the climate is one of the reasons Ocala is perfect for racehorses? We have an average annual high temperature of 84 degrees and a low of 59. Of course, it does get a little chillier in the winter, but it’s nothing like the Northeast or Midwest. While it’s certainly possible for us to get light snow, we can’t even remember the last time. Our annual snowfall is zero inches.
Even on the chilliest days, this weather is perfect for keeping our horses comfortable and happy all year long. However, we certainly don’t have the white Christmas promised in movies and music.

Even though we don’t have a wintery landscape during the holiday season, we can still celebrate this time of year. Bright lights, trees, celebrations, food, parties, and music happen all over town and even here at horseOlogy.
