Purrfectly Claire ‘23:
Purrfectly Claire ‘23 is moving along well here in Ocala and is set to begin galloping this week.
She’s definitely a bigger-bodied, stocky filly who we feel will benefit from a little additional time to get fit, so we plan to point her for the OBS April sale rather than March.
Her dam was in the Keeneland November sale, and has a very similar look, which we liked to see given that that one showed some speed on the track. We actually bid on the dam at the sale and were direct underbidders on her at $87K. She was in foal to Girvin.
Twirling Candy has been on a nice run of late, highlighted by sophomore filly Two Sharp, who was a romping winner of the G3 Chilukki S. at Churchill on Nov. 23. Interestingly, that filly is owned by the breeder of our filly. Another Twirling Candy filly (who’s already a multiple graded stakes winner) was third by a neck in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and rounded out the trifecta again in the G1 Matriarch this past Sunday.
We hope everyone has a great rest of the year and holiday season, and we’ll check back in some time in early 2025 with more.
Sold Out – Cash Refund ’23:
Cash Refund ’23 continues to train forwardly and is progressing nicely in his early lessons. He is galloping along in company at this point and is likely to begin breezing in the first couple weeks of January.
We’re keeping him under consideration for both the OBS March and OBS April sales for now, but are leaning slightly towards the April sale. He doesn’t seem like he’d have any problem being ready for March, but the buying bench for New York-breds is a bit wider in April. After analyzing this past year’s sales results for NYBs, the April sale seemed to be the slightly stronger of the two.
Because of the sire power and solid physical he possesses, there’s not really a “wrong” decision here, but a few extra weeks never hurts to have one ready for their absolute best. The colt has really grown up and filled out since we purchased him. He was a projection play physically when we acquired him, and he’s done exactly what we’d hoped he would do since then.
Uncle Mo has had a productive last six weeks or so on the track. His recent stakes winners were highlighted by First Resort’s score in the prestigious G2 Jockey Club Gold Cup this past weekend, and also include Keeneland stakes-winning juvenile and pricey OBS grad Long Neck Paula; the resurgent Gulfport, who seeks back-to-back black-type wins this Saturday at Oaklawn; and G3 Pebbles S. heroine No Mo Candy, who is a neck away from being unbeaten.
We hope everyone has a great rest of the year and holiday season, and we’ll check back in some time in early 2025 with more.
Lisa’s Legacy ‘23:
Lisa’s Legacy ‘23 remains one of the standouts among the strongest crop of yearlings we’ve ever pointed for the 2-year-old sales.
He’s a great mover and acts like a very classy horse. He continues to fill out his big frame and strengthen up in exactly the ways we hoped he would when we bought him.
Because he’s a bigger/scopier type, we plan to point him for OBS April and would expect him to fit in very well and make his presence known there.
He’s currently galloping and will begin breezing some time in January.
Liam’s Map was represented last month by G3 Hill Prince S. winner Deterministic and had a dominant Del Mar maiden special weight-winning 2-year-old on Thanksgiving weekend.
We hope everyone has a great rest of the year and holiday season, and we’ll check back in some time in early 2025 with more.
Empress Eleanor ‘23:
Empress Eleanor ‘23 is doing great in his early lessons at the farm. While he displayed some immature behavior typical of a young colt early on, he’s really taken to his new job. He’s a gritty sort who acts like he’ll be precocious and speedy, and for that reason we currently have him penciled in for the first 2-year-old sale of the season, OBS March.
He’s currently galloping along and will be ready to breeze in January.
Maclean’s Music has had a flurry of nice winners over the past couple of weeks, highlighted by a juvenile stakes winner up at Woodbine over the synthetic and a very strong allowance score by a colt who’s already a stakes winner.
Jackie’s Warrior’s first crop of weanlings were also very well received at the November breeding stock sales, so colts/stallion prospects by Maclean’s Music are looking pretty good right now.
We’re really liking where we stand with this guy currently and have always felt like he was one we snuck past them at the sale.
We hope everyone has a great rest of the year and holiday season, and we’ll check back in some time in early 2025 with more.

While Small Share Investing started in the racehorse world, there is a need for it in other aspects of the industry. Small Share Investing is a business model whereby a diverse group of people can participate in the excitement of owning a horse, which may not have been otherwise feasible.
Pinhooking
Pinhooking is the practice of buying a horse at one stage of their life and selling them at a later stage. horseOlogy purchases weanlings to be sold as yearlings and yearlings to be sold as two-year-olds as well as other savvy acquisition opportunities.
Sport of Everyone
We feel strongly that thoroughbred horse racing (at every stage) shouldn’t just be ‘the sport of kings’ but the sport of everyone.
