For so many people, the idea of owning a piece of horseracing history feels unattainable. The way things are structured, you might think you need a billionaire’s bank account to make it happen. But that’s not true, and horseOlogy makes it easy for anyone to be a part of the team. Here are some strategies to make your dream a reality, even if you’re not swimming in cash.

The Process of Pinhooking

Pinhooking allows everyone to have a piece of the pie without breaking the bank. The idea is simple: buy a young horse, usually a weanling or a yearling, and sell them at the next stage of development.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Selection: The first step is choosing a promising young horse or multiple horses. This requires a good eye for potential, understanding bloodlines, and assessing conformation.
  2. Investment: Buy the horse, which is where the investment from our owners comes in.
  3. Development: Over the next several months, the horse will need proper care, nutrition, and training. This period is crucial as the horse’s potential starts to unfold.
  4. Sale: Once the horse is well-developed and showing promise, it’s time to sell. The goal is to sell the horse for more than the initial purchase and care costs, turning a profit for the owners.

Pinhooking can be profitable, but it requires patience, a good team of advisors, and a bit of luck. It’s a great way to get involved in the thoroughbred industry without spending a fortune.

What About Horses of Racing Age?

If pinhooking sounds too speculative, consider purchasing shares of horses of racing age. These horses are older, have been through all the training to get to the races, and may have already raced.

These horses can be bought through a sale, claimed from a race, or may be in our barn already!
