Gabby Medrano
Forewoman/Barn Manager
Gabby Medrano was quite literally born into the equine world. Her mother began working at Monmouth Park while pregnant with Gabby, who was born at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey. From the age of eight, Gabby accompanied her mother to the track after school, sparking a lifelong passion for Thoroughbreds.
Determined to pursue a career in the equine industry, Gabby charted her own path after graduation. In 2023, she discovered horseOlogy and was immediately drawn to its full-cycle program and its status as a women- and minority-owned business. Under the mentorship of Katie and Jena, Gabby recognized the unique opportunity to deepen her knowledge and experience in the field.
Gabby’s day at the barn begins at 5:30 a.m., a time she cherishes for the tranquility it offers. She enjoys checking in on each horse before the day’s activities commence. One of her favorite aspects of farm life is observing the training process. At horseOlogy, she has the opportunity to follow horses from their arrival as yearlings through their development into two-year-olds in training, and she continues to track their progress as they embark on their racing careers.
Gabby also values the one-on-one interactions with veterinarians, chiropractors, and farriers, finding these experiences invaluable to her professional growth. She has developed a keen interest in the science of equine nutrition, appreciating the continuous learning the field offers. As Gabby puts it, “You learn something new every single day.”
Among the many horses she’s worked with, Gabby holds a special affection for Blameitonthestones. Looking ahead, Gabby is excited about the future and the opportunities it holds. She is committed to continuing her journey in the equine industry, eager to expand her knowledge, take on new challenges, and contribute meaningfully to the success of horseOlogy and the horses under her care.
